Join us for our next MASA EdTalks session presented by Michael Hart and Steve Pumper from PMA Financial Network! This session aims to assist leaders in understanding Minnesota's intricate school funding formulas, which determine the amount and source of revenue for districts. By analyzing district examples, participants will gain insights into how the calculations are influenced by the district's composition, while also addressing legislative updates regarding equalization formulas.
Session Details Date: Wednesday, June 14, 2023 Time: 10 - 11 am Location: Virtual via Zoom Register for the session here! There is no cost to attend.
This session will be recorded and shared on the MASA EdTalks sessions page! CEUs will NOT be provided for this session.
What will we talk about? School funding formulas in Minnesota are complicated. The formulas determine not only how much revenue a district receives but also whether it comes from state funds or local taxpayers. This session will help leaders make sense of how the formulas determine whether the money comes from state or local taxpayers. We will look at specific district examples to show how the makeup of a district can dramatically change the calculations. This session will also be helpful to leaders looking to better understand legislative changes related to equalization formulas.
Who should attend? Superintendents (particularly those of small to mid-sized districts), business office staff (with superintendents), and a school board member (if you have someone especially interested that you would like to accompany you as superintendent).
