MASA Announces the Retirement of Executive Director Dr. Deb Henton
August 11, 2025
Dear MASA Members and Partners,
On behalf of the MASA Board of Directors, we share with both gratitude and warm wishes that Dr. Deb Henton will retire as Executive Director of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators in June 2026.
For the past six years, Deb has served MASA with distinction, bringing her unwavering commitment to public education, tireless advocacy for school leaders, and deep belief in the power of education to transform lives. Her leadership has helped shape MASA into a stronger, more responsive organization — one that remains laser-focused on supporting superintendents and other district level leaders and ensuring all students have access to high-quality learning.
Deb began her career in education in 1989, and over the course of 36 years, she’s remained grounded in what matters most: student success. Whether navigating tough budget seasons, championing state and national policy, or mentoring new leaders, Deb has led with clarity, courage, and compassion.
While Deb is stepping away from the daily demands of inboxes and early-morning alerts, she’s not stepping away from education. She will forever be an advocate for Minnesota’s public schools — and a champion of those who lead them.
Please join us in celebrating Deb’s incredible career, and in thanking her for a legacy of leadership that will continue to inspire us all.
Warmly,
MASA Executive Officers
