MASA Presentation Series

“Take Five” Communication Workshop Series
 
A series of five one-hour workshops designed to offer five key ideas that will make your school district’s communication efforts more effective. The workshops will be offered virtually and scheduled throughout May, 2021.  Attend one, several or all.  Workshops are presented without cost, but you must register.

Session 5
Thursday, May 27 • 12 noon to 1 pm

Always Start Inside: Five “Must Have” Tactics to Enhance Communication and Engagement with Your Staff
presented by Bob Noyed, APR, Vice President, CESO Communications

There is a foundational idea in school communication: if you have a dollar to spend on communication, spend 95 cents on internal communication. Communicating and connecting with staff members need to be critical components of every district’s communication efforts. A strong internal communication effort leads to better communication and engagement with other audiences. In this session, you will learn five tactics that are “must haves” for every district to create and maintain a strong internal communications effort.

Listening to our stakeholders - internal and external - continues to be a critical component in maintaining calm in your district. The addition of listening to student voices can help to identify necessary changes to best meet student needs. In this session, you will learn five ideas to improve engagement with your community and to strengthen connections with internal and external stakeholders.

Families have a growing number of learning options for their children. When shopping for learning options, many parents start at a district or school website, and if the website is not compelling, they move on. Well-designed, attractive, and compelling websites open the door of your district to families shopping for schools. In this session, you will learn five ideas to transform your website from an electronic bulletin board to a powerful marketing tool that can attract both students, families, and staff.

We Need More Students: Five Action Steps for Creating and Implementing a Strategic Enrollment Approach

Almost everything in a district or school revolves around student enrollment. Increasing or stable enrollment provides so many more opportunities than when enrollment is decreasing. And because families have more and more learning options to choose from, it is critical to take a more strategic approach to managing your district’s enrollment. In this session, you will learn five action steps to take right now to create a more strategic approach to enrollment to both retain current students and recruit new students.
