MDE Back to School Conference:
Servant Leaders ~ Each Student, Every Day
Lead through service and serve through leadership.
August 6-7, 2019 • Minneapolis Marriott Northwest
Plan to bring your leadership team!
The Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership says, “A servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. While traditional leadership generally involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the “top of the pyramid,” servant leadership is different. The servant-leader shares power, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.” Make plans to join us for the 2019 MDE/MASA Back to School Conference, August 6-7 at the Minneapolis Marriott Northwest and start the new school year with exploration and reflection on how we all can share the responsibility of delivering excellence in our education systems for each student, every day. Bring a team and benefit from the chance to discuss how what you are learning impacts your own district. The conference follows the MSBA Summer Seminar, and our new superintendents will want to stay on Wednesday afternoon for our first session of the Great Start Cohort.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to increase your effectiveness with kids who have experienced trauma and display significant behavioral patterns. Join Danielle Theis, LICSW, Ed. S., an Independent Master LSCI trainer, for a week that will change how you understand and approach this challenging population.
The best time to successfully intervene with children who struggle and display maladaptive behaviors is at the time of the crisis. It is important that we meet the needs of our students who have experienced trauma effectively. We must have professionally trained Interventionists available to work with our kids when they are struggling. LSCI is an advanced, interactive therapeutic strategy for turning crisis situations into learning opportunities for children with chronic patterns of self-defeating behaviors. LSCI views problems or stressful incidents as opportunities for learning, growth, insight, and change. This non-physical intervention program uses a multi-theoretical approach to behavior management and problem solving. LSCI provides staff a roadmap through conflict to desired outcomes using crisis as an opportunity to teach and create positive relationships with youth.
