MASA is concerned about the questions regarding background checks. We have received a legal opinion that has BCA references along with state statute references.

FREEZE LANGUAGE- provided by the MSBA Management System

Hard Freeze Language: The School District and the exclusive representative agree that, until the date of full ratification of the 2011-2013 Master Agreement, teachers salaries and School District contributions toward insurance benefits shall be frozen at their 2008-2009 amounts. No step or lane advancement and no new career increments/longevity pay will be awarded; all extra-curricular, co-curricular, and additional duty pay shall be frozen at the 2008-2009 amounts; and any School District group insurance premium increases shall be solely borne by the individual teacher.

Hard Salary Freeze Language: The School District and the exclusive representative agree that, until the date of full ratification of the 2011-2013 Master Agreement, teachers salaries shall be frozen at their 2008-2009 amounts. No step or lane advancement and no new career increments/longevity pay will be awarded, and all extra-curricular, co-curricular, and additional duty pay shall be frozen at the 2008-2009 amounts.

Soft Salary Freeze Language: The School District and the exclusive representative agree that, until the date of full ratification of the 2011-2013 Master Agreement, the 2008-2009 teachers salary schedule shall remain in place, although all teachers are eligible for any step and/or lane advancement and/or any career increments/longevity pay that they may earn. In addition, all extra-curricular, co-curricular, and additional duty pay shall be frozen at the 2008-2009 amounts.
