__________________________________________________________________________________ Membership Options: I. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP: (Voting) A. MASA Membership: An active member of MASA can be any person in the State of Minnesota who is a superintendent or central office administrator, in a public, private or parochial school system or regional, cooperative, or state agency. Active status permits the member to vote, hold office, and receive all member services and publications (see list of specific benefits and services). Membership benefits include: Right to Vote Right to Hold Elective Office Opportunity to Influence Change (Committee Participation) Opportunity for Networking Ongoing Professional Assistance Spring and Fall Statewide Conferences Professional Development with Continuing Education Units Legislative Platform and Advocacy Representation on Task Forces and Statewide Committees Leaders Forum Quarterly Newsletter Special Publications and Correspondence on Current Issues Access to Sample Documents, such as Policies and Contracts Broadcast Faxes and List-serve E-Mails MASA Web Site Member Directory Member Subscription Rates for Internet Job Posting Service Legal Consultation and Defense Protection Personal Contract Review Services $3,000 Life Insurance Coverage Active members of MASA are encouraged to become active members of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) through MASA. B. MASE (non-voting) Membership: This membership category is for Active MASA members who also desire membership in the affiliate organization, the Minnesota Administrators for Special Education (MASE). Members receive all MASE member services and publications in addition to MASA services (Voting privleges in MASA only). C. Service Membership: A service member of MASA is any instructor or administrator in a teacher or educational administration training program or any MN State Department of Education staff person. Service members receive all the benefits and services of active membership. D. Service Plus MASE Membership: This membership category is for Active Service members who also desire membership in the affiliate organization, the Minnesota Administrators for Special Education (MASE). Members receive all MASE member services and publications in addition to MASA services. II. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP: (Non-Voting) A. Business Partnership Membership: Any business organization, governmental agency, library or other institution wishing to support MASA may become a business partnership member. The membership will be in the name of the organization with one individual name identified to receive all publications. Business partnership members receive: Right to Vote on Business Partner issues Right to serve on MASA standing committees and foundation board Leader's Forum Newsletter 1 Free 2"x3.5" Ad in the Newsletter Issue of Your Choice Member Registration for Conferences/Seminars 10% Discount on MASA Conference Exhibit Space Priority registration for conference exhibit space Participation and communications regarding workshops and special association activities Reduced rate on membership mailing labels The business partnership member is not eligible to vote or hold office and receives no further benefits or services. B. Student Membership: A student member of MASA is any person who is a full-time graduate student enrolled in an educational administration program and is not eligible for active membership. Student members receive all publications and access to conferences at reduced rates. Student members are not eligible to vote or hold office and receive no further benefits or services. C. Persons on Leave Membership: A person on leave member is any member who is on professional leave from a full-time administrative position. A member on leave receives all the benefits of an active member except for voting privileges. D. Subscription Only Membership: A subscription only member is any individual or organization wishing to receive the MASA newsletter. No further benefits or services of MASA are provided. E. Retired Membership: A retired member of MASA is any active member who retires from their full-time administrative position and chooses to receive all publications from MASA. A retired MASA member is not eligible to vote or hold office. A retired MASA member is eligible to purchase life insurance through MASA. G. Honorary Membership: All active members who retire from a full-time administrative position are considered honorary members and are invited to join as a retiree member, attend all MASA sponsored conferences at no registration fee except for meals and lodging. An added benefit of a $3000.00 option in your membership is available. No further benefits or services of MASA are provided. A. An Retiree MASA member is not eligible to vote or hold office. B. An Retiree MASA member is eligible to purchase life insurance through MASA. III. AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS (AASA) MEMBERSHIP: Membership is open to any person who serves in an administrative position in a public or private school system; regional, state, or national education agency or association; college or university; or who teaches in a teacher or educational administrative training program and who possesses a valid license for the position as may be required by law. Active status permits the member to vote, hold office and receive selected AASA publications throughout the year. (Additional information on benefits and servces will be sent by AASA). |
